Hartsel

Hartsel, Colorado, also known as “The Heart of Colorado” due to its location at the geographic center of Colorado, was founded in 1880. Sam Hartsel, a local farmer and rancher, lived in the area and developed the Hartsel hot springs that the area became known for.

Highway 24 runs through the center of this quaint town which offers a restaurant, coffehouse, gas station and a few stores. Hartsel’s location is convenient to several larger communities; Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Canon City and Buena Vista.

Outdoor recreation is almost unlimited in this small community with several reservoirs, Antero, Spinney and 11 Mile.
