Woodland Park History
Woodland Park has been nicknamed the ‘City Above the Clouds’ by Cal Elder, a long term resident of Woodland Park; This name was influenced by the clear skies of the city, unlike that of the surrounding areas. The city was officially incorporated into the state in 1891 after being established as a business center, as well as a resort town. Initially the city’s primary business was saw milling, but now it is tourism that fuels the economy.
